Creativity Marathon
The Creativity Marathon is an opportunity for high school students from all around the world to come together to solve some of the world's greatest challenges through a filmmaking competition.
With the help of some filmmaking lessons from Full Sail, teams of three to five students, accompanied by an adult sponsor, you will have until April 6th, 2024 to produce a three-minute video showing a clear and creative solution to one or more of UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals.

SPONSOR REGISTRATION & DEADLINE
- Each team participating in the contest must have a sponsor (teacher, counselor, coordinator or other member of the staff of the school the team is representing) and 3-5 high school students. Sponsors are able to participate on multiple teams, but students are limited to joining only one team.
REQUIREMENTS FOR A RECOGNITION OF PARTICIPATION
- Students that watch the online on demand lessons and submit a project will be able to receive a Student Recognition of Participation (Certificate of Participation). This document will be available for the student on the official platform of the Creativity Marathon 2024 for download. To have access to the document each student must: (i) access the platform; (ii) watch each of the on-demand lessons available from March 20th - April 6th.
Video Criteria
- Each team will be required to submit a short video proposing solutions to help achieve one or more of the goals presented in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. - Videos must not exceed three (3) minutes in length. Videos that are three minutes and one second (3:01) or more in duration will be disqualified and will not be judged. For purposes of clarity, any title screens or credits added to the video must fit within the maximum allotted three (3) minute timeframe. Limit one (1) entry per team.
- All video entries submitted in connection with this contest must be in one of the following video formats: MP4 or MOV.
- Any non-English commentary in the video entry must be accompanied by English subtitles. Entries requiring license or usage rights from any third party are not eligible.
- Entry may not include any trademarked or copyrighted brand names/logos, other than those of Full Sail University.
Video Submissions
- Videos must be submitted by the team sponsor through our digital platform by 11:59 PM US ET on April 06th, 2024. Please note that all videos must be posted using public mode and will be available for viewing by the general public.
- The team sponsor must also submit in our digital platform a text, created by the participants of the team, of no more than one thousand (1,000) characters explaining which 2030 Agenda Sustainable Goals are addressed in the video and what problems the proposals presented in the video are intended to help solve.
- Finally, to complete the submission process, sponsors must select the names of the students that participated in the team in our digital platform so that we can configure the group responsible for the project submitted.
Video Judging Rubric
Every year the Creativity Marathon counts with the volunteer help of over 60 judges, from instructors to graduates, who help us analyze and judge each one of the projects submitted.
This are the 2024 Creativity Marathon Judges:
- Entries will be judged by a panel of judges selected by Full Sail University, which may include Degree Program Instructors, High School Outreach leadership staff, Marketing leadership staff, and Industry Related members invited by team sponsors based on their work experience and/or expertise in sustainability, filmmaking, and/or script writing.
- Entries will be judged on a one-hundred (100) point scale by the panel based on the following ten (10) criteria:
- incorporation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (10%)
- feasibility of proposed solutions to help achieve stated 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (10%)
- originality and creativity of proposed solutions (10%)
- quality of artistic expression (10%)
- quality and use of framing techniques (10%)
- quality and use of footage audio (10%)
- quality and use footage lighting (10%)
- quality of video editing (10%)
- quality of script writing (10%)
- quality and use of video footage (10%)
- The judges will score each entry and will select the top six (6) entries based on the stated criteria. The entry receiving the highest score will be designated the potential winner. The next five (5) highest scoring entries will be designated as honorable mentions.
