The Crash Course in the Creative Industry is an engaging and inspiring 5-hour experience that will challenge high school students (age 14 to 17) to create digital content at the same time it will give them a hands-on experience in creative careers.
All webinars are conducted through Zoom and present a different theme and exercise for the students to complete. Tasks include creating a 3D game character, composing a digital song, creating a marketing kit, editing a stop motion piece and writing an interactive storytelling game. For each webinar a different software (free of charge) will be used by the students. This experience includes:
Arrange a seven-track music composition using MIDI and audio files in Amped Studio. Learn basic song elements such as tempo, key, rhythm, and melody in order to arrange a song and hear it all come together.
Create an interactive, nonlinear story using the open-source tool Twine. Follow a prompt and implement storytelling structures in order to create a “Choose Your Own Adventure” story.
Create a multi-frame stop motion video clip using Kapwing. Organize the frames into the right sequence and correct the frame rate to have a finalized stop motion project.
Create a post for Social Media using Adobe Spark. Incorporate basic art elements such as space, color, and shape to construct an attractive social media post worthy of likes and follows.
Model and create an iconic video game object in a free, easy-to-use 3D modeling program called Tinkercad. Scale, rotate, and move basic shapes to create a multidimensional model.
